Info for Parents

Thank you for considering Concord Primary School for your child.

Please read the info below and return the enrolment form any time before your child is due to start school.

Please also include a copy of your child’s immunisation certificate and birth certificate (new entrants only) or bring these to the office and we will copy them for you. These are a legal requirement.

If moving from another school, please bring details of your child’s previous school with you; your child’s last school report would also be helpful. We will contact your child’s previous school to arrange for records to be forwarded to Concord School.

If you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to ask a teacher, the staff at the office or another parent.  We are a small and very friendly school, and we are only too willing to help.

New Entrant Children

Starting school as a new entrant is an important milestone in a child’s/parent’s/ caregiver’s life and we want to make it a memorable and pleasant experience.

To maximize learning for junior children we keep our numbers in the new entrant class low.  This means that children beginning school will get regular one-to-one teacher time.

Many of the class and school routines will be new to your child.  We ask you to support and guide your child through the morning routine of hanging their bag up, getting out their morning tea, drink bottle and homework.  The more the students do this themselves, the quicker they will become independent.

Children moving from another school

Moving into a new school can be an anxious time effort to ensure children integrate into their new class with a minimum of fuss, and with support and consideration.

Contact the school office to make an appointment with the Principal and to take a tour of the school.

Pre-entry Class – “Clever Cats”

A programme for children preparing to come to school is run by our new entrant teacher, Sue Howard, every second Friday afternoon from 1.30-3.00pm.

Children are welcome to attend after age 4½.  Buddies from the senior class also take part to assist your child with transitioning to school.  Please contact the school regarding times, dates, and arrangements to attend.

Pre School Visits

After completion of the enrolment the new entrant teacher, Sue Howard, will contact you to arrange a series of pre-school visits.

The purpose of these visits is to give your child the opportunity to become familiar with class routines and to meet his/her future classmates. These visits are flexible and may include a morning and an afternoon session depending on how comfortable your child feels. You are welcome to stay if you wish.
