Health Promoting SchoolBreakfast in schools.
Concord School is a Health Promoting School. We believe in teaching and learning through, in, and about physical activity and its benefits to each of us. Physical Education as well as healthy eating and living a healthy life style leading to life long learning is a priority.
We hold annual events such as the Duathlon, the Big Day Out, and the School cross-country race. Concord School has teams involved in futsal, netball, T-ball, mini ball, and touch rugby depending on the season. We take part in the Walking and Wheeling to School Programme and allow the children to bring their scooters, skateboards, and bikes to use in the playground at break times.
We are a sun smart school and expect the students to wear their school sun hat, at play times and during lunch breaks, in the first and fourth terms.
We offer the children breakfast at school four days a week and we call this our Breakfast Club. We are very grateful to the supportive parents who come in to prepare and serve the breakfast to children. The food is kindly donated by Sanitarium and Fonterra for the KickStart Breakfasts. We are soon to receive milk as part of the Milk in Schools initiative.
The Parents Group offers hot lunches on Wednesdays to add to the daily Smart Lunches, and Pizza that can be ordered every Friday. The children enjoy sitting under cover on our new deck munching on their healthy options.

Sun Smart School
The children have been supplied hats from the Cancer Society as part of their Sunsmart Schools Programme. They must wear these hats outside during terms 1 and 4. We also encourage other protection practices for extended exposure to the sun.
