Room 5

Welcome to Room 5. It's great to be back in our new room, which will be a great place to learn in. We are also lucky enough to have a spacious studio room beside us that can use for a variety of activities. Our new block is fantastic.

Our room is made up of a mix of Year 5 and 6 students. We work in a colourful, fun and supportive environment. All students are encouraged to try their best with everything they do. Success is celebrated.

Our students are a diverse bunch. They have a wide range of interests and hobbies that they participate in at school and in their spare time. We enjoy talking about our different experiences.

We focus on literacy and numeracy in the mornings. In the afternoons we concentrate on the arts, science, social sciences, heath and physical education. We often use the inquiry approach where students are encouraged to investigate their interests.

We are lucky to have four computers in the room and two in the nearby studio room. We use a variety of learning programmes on these and they are great for presenting our work. A selection of fantastic examples including art, stories and photos are on our walls for everyone to see.

Being in the senior room we have a big focus on making the most of leadership opportunities. The students are responsible for a number of jobs that keep the school running smoothly. They also regularly participate in PALs (Physical Activity Leaders) and road patrol. The year 6 students enjoy helping out with Clever Cats and running our fortnightly assemblies. They have been doing a great job.

There is a lot going on in Room 5. It is a great place to learn in. Come and see for yourself.
